Crowns
A dental crown is a type of cap that completely covers a real tooth. Crowns can be fitted where a tooth is badly broken, decayed or has been damaged extensively; but also to make a tooth look better. In general there are three different types of crowns: - a full metal crown - a porcelain fused to metal (PFM crown) - a porcelain crown (metal free) To fit a crown, the old tooth will need to reduced in height and diameter so it is like a small peg onto which the crown will be fixed. Usually two separate appointments are required as it takes some time for the dental lab to make a new crown. |
